Tower of Babel (450m elev. gain)

Kona glad to be out of the loose ascent gully by 9am in late July – Moraine Lake below, Peaks Six thru Ten behind with Wenkchemna Pass right of centre and Eiffel Peak on far left.

The rock sofa pose with Bident and one of the four Quadra peaks and glacier above Consolation Lakes. Panorama Ridge at left and Boom Mountain in centre distance.

Mount Babel looming over the Tower.

Wenkchemna Pass (730 m elev. gain)

Kona at the pass after a morning drizzle with Wastach and Eiffel Peaks behind and Temple behind. Eiffel Lake partly visible below.

Red algae on one of the numerous snow patches en-route to the pass.

Time out to sketch “Super Couloir” climbing route on Mt. Deltaform above Eiffel Lake at a snow patch for Kona to keep cool.

Wastach Peak (965 m elev. gain)

Kona on Wastach Peak in mid-August – Temple, Pinnacle (hard to distinguish from Temple behind) and Eiffel in background. Didn’t find the Graeme Pole register that was here on a previous visit in 1995. Below, nearing the summit with Wenkchemna Peak (Peak 10 of Valley of Ten Peaks) behind, steep step on normal ascent ridge visible.

Below, view of Wastach Peak (center, left of Eiffel Peak) from other side of valley in 1993.

Kona on Eiffel Peak (1200 m gain)

Above, on summit on late July day with Mt. Temple upper part of normal scramble route behind.

Below, view of summit from high point along ridge, Eiffel Tower at left.

Below, Kona near summit enjoying the climb.

Below, on descent with Tower of Babel, Mt. Bable, Mt. Fay and Fay Glacier above Moraine Lake. And artistic impression of view from Larch Valley.

Below, close-ups of corniced Mt. Fay after north face ice climb in 1988 and artistic impression from top of rappel descent route.
